What defines Fitch’s culture is a strong emphasis on people. The company’s people-oriented approach leads to a collaborative spirit and collegiate atmosphere, rewarding staff with fulfilment and confidence. That’s why so many people including me see Fitch as a long-term employer.

In these challenging times when so many peoples of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage face unprovoked violence, harassment and discrimination, InspirAsian offers a space where Fitch employees of such heritage and their allies can find solace and solidarity, and a platform where they can be heard, be seen, be validated and be honored.

One of the reasons people stay at Fitch is the culture. We work hard, but being accommodating and giving the required flexibly for people to manage and balance work and family life is so important in retaining talent. Society used to imply it was a choice between work or family – it is not unrealistic or unreasonable to aim to achieve and accomplish both – we aim to ensure that all working parents get a chance to achieve these goals at Fitch. We have started the journey towards Fitch becoming an employer of choice for working parents and that is very exciting indeed.

TalentPath has helped me appreciate the skills I have and see the value I bring to my role and team at Fitch. It has been a fantastic opportunity to meet colleagues from across the business and learn about their experiences and ambitions. The coaching element has been invaluable for me and has given me some great tools that I have already put into practice. I’m really grateful for the opportunity.

Participating in ForwardPath has given me access to an incredible internal network of female leaders within Fitch Group, both from my cohort peers to past participants and the program’s sponsors and supporters. These connections have been valuable for my career and on a personal level as well.

CreditPath is a professional development program primarily designed to support individuals to re-enter the workforce and Military Veterans transitioning to the private sector. Participants have the opportunity to connect with experienced Fitch professionals, CreditPath mentors from previous programs, certified coaches specializing in transitions and internal recruitment teams. This program helps participants to learn more about job opportunities and prepare for interviews.

Attaining the Certificate in Treasury qualification (through the ACT’s Diversity in Treasury programme) has provided me with a comprehensive grounding in the core technical concepts of treasury. This qualification compliments my background as a chartered accountant working in the regulatory reporting department of a FTSE listed bank.

As part of our SVC initiative, we have partnered with The Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) to launch a Diversity in Treasury Programme in 2023, which provides a selection of complimentary qualifications to Black and Asian students. This initiative is aimed at supporting their career aspirations in finance.

Both Fitch and the ACT are passionate about creating opportunities for individuals who are underrepresented in the treasury profession, and the treasury community is very supportive of our work in this area.

I did a single unit of the Certificate in Treasury on technology, governance and ethics – topics that span every area of my current role. It really helped me understand risk – and the different types of risk that a business faces. The qualification rubber-stamps the notion of a subject-matter expert. I’m a chartered accountant as well, so not only are you regarded as a professional with a set level of integrity within the accountancy industry, but the qualification with the ACT also gives you the same regard in treasury.
